11.1 Gallery description files

A gallery description file automates the process of downloading a gallery.

For example, to download a specific thumbnail gallery using the Download Toolbar you would navigate the Internet Explorer to the web page containing the gallery, adjust the settings on the options page and click the Download button.

If you have found the best Download Toolbar settings for a specific gallery then you might as well share this information with other Download Toolbar users. You can do this by saving a gallery description file and email it to a friend or upload it to a web server.

There are two kinds of gallery description files: File lists and download descriptions.

• A file list is basically a list of links to the files in a gallery. File list are preferable if a gallery contains a fixed limited set of files.
   
• A download description is a link to a start page and the download toolbar settings required to download a gallery from that page. Download descriptions are preferable if the files in a gallery change, or if the gallery contains many files.
